Regular Season Round 21: Oberhausen - BG 89 Avides 87-73
Date: March 16, 2013
Eighth ranked Oberhausen (10-11) beat at home 11th ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (6-15) by 14 points 87-73, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Oberhausen. Rotenburg/Scheessel was better in fourth quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Markeshia Grant (167, college: S.Carolina) stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (165-86, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 16 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was American power forward Samantha Meissel (188-88, college: Indianapolis) with 24 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Anna McLean (187-87, college: Iona) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Oberhausen. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Rhein MB. Rotenburg/Scheessel lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Oberhausen will face higher ranked Heli Girls (#6) in Noerdlingen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play at home against the league's second-placed SV Halle Lions (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
