Regular Season Round 21: Rhein MB II - Bielefeld 70-66

Date: March 17, 2013
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Langen where 11th ranked Dolphins Bielefeld (4-17) was defeated by twelfth ranked Rhein MB II (4-17) 70-66 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dolphins Bielefeld won third quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rhein MB II forced 19 Dolphins Bielefeld turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Stephanie Wagner (182-90) who scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Kristin Annawald (184-93) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Rhein MB II's coach Harald Roth used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Michaela Hawley (185, college: Florida Southern) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import center Sarah Acker (191, college: Delaware) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Rhein MB II moved-up to eleventh place in North, which they share with Bielefeld. Dolphins Bielefeld lost their eighth game in a row. Rhein MB II will face higher ranked Hannover (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
