Regular Season Round 27: Darussafaka - Yesilgiresun 84-73

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Yesilgiresun (19-8) against sixth ranked Darussafaka (17-10) on Sunday night. Visiting Yesilgiresun was defeated by Darussafaka in Istanbul 84-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yesilgiresun. The game was mostly controlled by Darussafaka. Yesilgiresun was better in second period 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Strangely Yesilgiresun outrebounded Darussafaka 43-28 including a 21-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Adem Oren (207-79) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American guard Alex Gordon (184-85, college: Vanderbilt) answered with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Ismail Cevik (206-81) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Yesilgiresun. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Darussafaka. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Maliye Milli. Newly promoted Yesilgiresun keeps the second position with eight games lost. Darussafaka will play against Akhisar Bld (#7) on the road in the next round. Yesilgiresun will play against Baskent Genclik (#14) in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
