Regular Season Round 24: Neptunas - Naglis Palangos 88-86

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Neptunas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Neptunas edged bottom-ranked Naglis Palangos in Klaipeda 88-86. Naglis Palangos trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 27-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 86-88 at the end of the game. Neptunas forced 19 Naglis Palangos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Mantas Mockevicius (189-93, college: Olney Central CC) replied with 31 points and forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) added 16 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Naglis Palangos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Neptunas (14-3) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Naglis Palangos at the other side still closes the standings. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
