There was a surprise result in Mariupol where eleventh ranked Dnipro (15-22) defeated 3rd placed Azovmash (23-14) 69-65 on Wednesday. Azovmash was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-13 charge of Dnipro, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was international power forward Maxym Korniyenko (204-87, agency: Beo Basket) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. International forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (202-89) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. Dnipro's coach Valdemaras Chomicius used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and Serbian power forward Tadija Dragicevic (206-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The victory was the third consecutive win for Dnipro. They maintain eleventh place with 15-22 record. Azovmash lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with 14 games lost. Dnipro will face higher ranked Hoverla (#8) in Frankivsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azovmash will play on the road against BC Odessa (#12).
