Regular Season Round 21: AD Vagos - Academico FC 62-39

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Academico FC (3-18) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked AD Vagos (14-7) 62-39 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by AD Vagos. Academico FC was better in third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Academico FC to just 6 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. They outrebounded Academico FC 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. American center Ebony Ellis (190-88, college: N.Illinois, agency: Promotex) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and guard Joana Jesus (173-93) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Isabel Leite (-84) with 6 points and 7 rebounds and Joana Ferreira scored 10 points. Academico FC's coach Mario Barros gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for AD Vagos. They moved-up to fifth place. Academico FC lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. AD Vagos will face bottom-ranked Ovarense (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Academico FC will play against GDESSA in Barreiro.
