The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Craiova's (11-16) road victory over 11th ranked Targu Mures (8-18) 63-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova. Targu Mures managed to win second period 9-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Alexandra Cutas (179-82) who scored 24 points. Serbian guard Marija Prlja (163-87) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Lashawn Johnson (188-86, college: Illinois St.) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import power forward Chantel Hilliard (187-90, college: Auburn) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Targu Mures' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Craiova moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Brasov. Loser Targu Mures keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Craiova will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Targu Mures will play against Alba Iulia (#5) and hope to secure a win.
