Very expected game when 9th ranked Spartak Pleven (5-17) was defeated at home by second ranked Levski Sofia (18-4) 92-85. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But Spartak Pleven won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Spartak Pleven was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Mladen Pantic (209-82, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. Levski Sofia's coach Konstantin Papazov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Dimitar Marintchechki (201-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and forward Veselin Georgiev (196-86) added 17 points in the effort for Spartak Pleven. Four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Levski Sofia maintains second position with 18-4 record having just two points less than leader Lukoil Academik. Spartak Pleven at the other side keeps the ninth place with 17 games lost. Levski Sofia will play against Rilski Sportist (#3) in Samokov in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Spartak Pleven will play on the road against Euroins Cherno More (#8) in Varna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
