Thirteenth-ranked Timba Timosoara (8-20) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Timisoara (19-9) on Saturday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 91-88. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Timba Timosoara. Timba Timosoara was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The winners were led by Serbian-German forward Robert Sarovic (205-78) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 17 points and 4 assists. Four Timisoara players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 8 rebounds by Canadian forward Denham Brown (198-83, college: Connecticut) did not help to save the game for Timba Timosoara. American guard Jermont Horton (198-84, college: Rutgers-Newark) added 32 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Timisoara moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Timba Timosoara keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Timisoara will meet at home Giurgiu (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timba Timosoara will play against Ploiesti and hope to secure a win.
