Liga Feminina top team - Alges (18-3) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Academico FC (3-18) in Porto 94-39. The game without a history. Alges led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Academico FC's 28. Alges forced 22 Academico FC turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Laura Broomfield (185-90, college: N.Carolina) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Center Vitoria Pacheco (179-92) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four Alges players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Joana Cruz (168-92) who recorded 4 points and 11 rebounds and guard Joana Cortinhas (174-95) added 9 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alges have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-3 record. Academico FC lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Alges will meet at home league's second-placed Lombos Quinta in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Academico FC will play against GDESSA (#3) in Barreiro and hope to secure a win.
