Regular Season Round 28: Giurgiu - Miercurea Ciuc 83-70

Rather expected game when 15th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (3-25) lost on the road to twelfth ranked Giurgiu (10-18) 83-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Giurgiu. Miercurea Ciuc was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Giurgiu especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Miercurea Ciuc was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Chris Ware (203-89, college: Indiana Tech, agency: SDJ Sports) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Giurgiu players scored in double figures. American forward Ivan Harris (201-84, college: Ohio St.) replied with 31 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian forward Franko Filipovic (203-87) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Miercurea Ciuc. Giurgiu maintains twelfth position with 10-18 record. Miercurea Ciuc lost fourteenth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 25 games lost. Giurgiu will face higher ranked Timisoara (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Miercurea Ciuc will play against Farul Const. (#14) in Constanca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
