Regular Season Round 25: Antakya - Botas 87-65

Rather expected game in Hatay where 9th ranked Botas (10-15) was rolled over by seventh ranked Antakya (13-12) 87-65. The game was mostly controlled by Antakya. Botas was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Antakya forced 21 Botas turnovers. Strangely Botas outrebounded Antakya 43-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. Antakya players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Four Antakya players scored in double figures. Antakya's coach Hakan Acer felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Christi Thomas (191-82, college: Georgia) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) added 18 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Botas. Antakya maintains seventh place with 13-12 record. Botas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Antakya will play against Canik Bld (#11) in Samsun in the next round. Botas will play at home against the league's leader Fenerbahce having rather not much hope for a victory.
