Second ranked CAB Madeira (13-3) beat at home 9th ranked Fisica (5-12) by 12 points 81-69, which is the biggest margin this round. The game was mostly controlled by CAB Madeira. Fisica was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a quality performance for American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 8 assists. The former international swingman Fabio Lima (197-88) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Five CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Edson Rosario (193-82) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Cape Verdean guard Braima Freire (188-82) added 13 points respectively for Fisica in the defeat. Fisica's coach Ivan Kostourkov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for CAB Madeira. They maintain second place with 13-3 record having four points less than leader Benfica. Newly promoted Fisica keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. CAB Madeira will play against bottom-ranked Galitos-Tley (#11) in Barreiro in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fisica will play at home against the league's leader Benfica and hopes to get back on the winning track.
