An interesting game took place in Heidelberg where higher ranked Science City Jena (15-15) was upset on the court of tenth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (14-16) 91-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Science City Jena. It looked good early as Science City Jena took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then MLP Academics Heidelberg had a 27-21 second period charge getting the lead and Science City Jena was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-91. MLP Academics Heidelberg brought some defensive toughness making 14 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Science City Jena helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Clint Sargent (193, college: S.Dakota St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Center Kristian Kuhn (208-87, college: N.Arizona) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and British-Australian guard Lee Jeka (187-83) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for Science City Jena. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Science City Jena at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost.
