Regular Season Round 29: MBC - Telekom Baskets 71-77

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Telekom Baskets (14-13) defeated 12th ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (12-16) in Weissenfels 77-71. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-8. But Mitteldeutscher BC won second period 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Telekom Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mitteldeutscher BC's 24 and made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American center Chris Ensminger (209-73, college: Valparaiso) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) chipped in 21 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Icelandic point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (194-88) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Telekom Baskets maintains ninth place with 14-13 record. Newly promoted Mitteldeutscher BC keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Telekom Baskets' next round opponent will be league's leader Brose Bask. in Bamberg and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitteldeutscher BC will play on the road against Bayern Muenchen (#4).
