Very important is a road loss of third ranked Khartsyzsk (24-7) against eighth ranked Koksokh-Stal (12-19) on Sunday night. Visiting Khartsyzsk was defeated by Koksokh-Stal in a tough game in Alchevsk 102-107. Koksokh-Stal made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. Koksokh-Stal players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Khartsyzsk was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by power forward Aleksander Kolomiychuk (202-91) who scored that evening 31 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Boris Bereziuk (196-87) supported him with 25 points and 5 assists. Four Koksokh-Stal players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 5 rebounds by forward Evgen Korovyakov (197-88) did not help to save the game for Khartsyzsk. The former international guard Bogdan Karebin (201-78, college: Buffalo) added 21 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Khartsyzsk's coach Vladimir Bryaukhavetshy tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Koksokh-Stal moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kirovograd. Khartsyzsk at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Koksokh-Stal will play against higher ranked VolinBasket (#4) in Lutsk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Khartsyzsk will play at home against BK Kremen in Kremenchuk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
