Important game to mention about took place in Balikesir. Fourth ranked Banvit BK (20-4) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Fenerbahce Ulker (20-4) 91-88 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fenerbahce Ulker. Banvit BK made 26-of-30 charity shots (86.7 percent) during the game, while Fenerbahce Ulker only scored seven points from the stripe. Fenerbahce Ulker was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and American point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) who added 11 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Banvit BK players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-FYR Macedonian point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian-Croatian Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89) scored 15 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Banvit BK moved-up to second place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Fener.Ulker. Banvit BK will play against Gaziantep (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fenerbahce Ulker will play against Hacettepe (#16) in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
