Regular Season Round 27: Rudupis - Zalgiris 67-77

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Rudupis (15-4) in Prienai on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Zalgiris (9-1) 77-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rudupis. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Rudupis managed to win fourth quarter 18-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-79) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Rimantas Kaukenas (192-77, college: Seton Hall) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Zalgiris' coach Joan Plaza used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Arturas Milaknis (195-86) answered with 22 points and forward Arnas Labuckas (203-87) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rudupis. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Rudupis at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Neptunas. Zalgiris are looking forward to face Lietuvos rytas (#7) in Vilnius in the next round. Rudupis will play on the road against Sakalai (#11) in Vilnius and is hoping to win this game.
