Not a big story in a game in Akdeniz where 13th ranked Mersin (7-19) was rolled over by ninth ranked Erdemir (11-16) 88-61 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-61. It was a great shooting night for Erdemir especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Gerrod Henderson (192-78, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Slovenian forward Jure Balazic (204-80) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Erdemir players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) who recorded 26 points and 8 rebounds and guard Altan Erol (194-83) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Erdemir maintains ninth place with 11-16 record. Mersin lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Erdemir will meet at home higher ranked Besiktas (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mersin will play against TED Kolejliler (#7) in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
