An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Istanbul. First ranked Galatasaray faced 3rd ranked Banvit BK. Host Galatasaray (25-3) defeated guests from Balikesir (22-5) 83-75. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Banvit BK won third quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naturalized American power forward Ersin Dagli (203-81, college: Alabama, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) produced 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American-Azerbaijani center Charles Davis (205-84, college: Alabama) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Banvit BK's coach Orhun Ene rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Galatasaray have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 25-3 record. Banvit BK at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Galatasaray are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Hacettepe (#16) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Banvit BK will play at home against Antalya (#15) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
