Regular Season Round 30: Anadolu Efes - Besiktas 90-74
Date: May 7, 2013
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Anadolu Efes (#3) and Besiktas (#6). Anadolu Efes (25-5) smashed visiting Besiktas (19-11) by 16 points 90-74. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Besiktas. The game was mostly controlled by Anadolu Efes. Besiktas was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Besiktas 42-21 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. International Kerem Gonlum (208-77) notched 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds by Croatian-Swedish forward Damir Markota (209-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) did not help to save the game for Besiktas. Slovenian power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87) added 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anadolu Efes moved-up to second place, which they share with Banvit BK. Defending champion Besiktas keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost.
