Regular Season Round 1: Darussafaka - Hacettepe 73-66

Darussafaka used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Ankara 73-66 on Saturday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-9. But Hacettepe won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and power forward Adem Oren (207-79) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Darussafaka will face Antalya on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hacettepe will play against Bandirma Kir. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
