Undefeated Nafta Univers. (1-1) recorded its first loss in Kaunas on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by top-ranked Zalgiris II (1-0) 87-78. Nafta Univers. trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 23-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 78-87 at the end of the game. Zalgiris II made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Lukas Lekavicius (176-94) who scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Justas Tamulis (194-94, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 24 points. Forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Deividas Anuzis (181-92) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Five Zalgiris II and four Nafta Univers. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris II left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Triobet. Nafta Univers. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Zalgiris II is looking forward to face Delikatesas (#8) in Joniskis in the next round. Nafta Univers. will play on the road against Mazeikiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
