Regular Season Round 2: Fraport SKY - EWE Baskets 63-72

Date: October 6, 2013
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (0-2) lost to top-ranked EWE Baskets (1-0) in Frankfurt 63-72 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when EWE Baskets made 11 blocks. American guard Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri, agency: Pro One Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. Serbian power forward Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-87) contributed with 11 points for the winners. EWE Baskets' coach Sebastian Machowski used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Canadian-American guard Andrew Rautins (193-86, college: Syracuse) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Quantez Robertson (188-84, college: Auburn) added 14 points in the effort for Deutsche Bank Skyliners. EWE Baskets left bottom position moving up to sixth place. Loser Deutsche Bank Skyliners still closes the standings with two games lost. EWE Baskets will face league's leader Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play on the road against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
