Regular Season Round 3: Hagen Phoenix - Hannover 42-72

There was a minor upset when Hagen Phoenix (1-2) was rolled over at home by Hannover (1-2) 72-42 on Saturday. The game without a history. Hannover led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hagen Phoenix to just 7 points in second quarter. Hannover held Hagen Phoenix to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Hannover forced 23 Hagen Phoenix turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Rayven Johnson (173-91, college: NJIT) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import power forward Samantha Heck (188, college: Evansville) helped adding 9 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Felicitas Grasshoff (184-93) with 6 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Kathrin Schlatt (174-91) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Hagen Phoenix's coach Ulrich Overhoff already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hannover will face Braunschweig (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
