Important game to mention about took place in Bucuresti. Rapid (2-0) saved a 2-point victory at home edging Cluj Napoca (0-2) 66-64 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Cluj Napoca took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rapid had a 12-10 second period charge getting the lead and Cluj Napoca was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-66. Rapid forced 24 Cluj Napoca turnovers. Strangely Cluj Napoca outrebounded Rapid 38-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. Guard Elena Constantin (167-86) scored 12 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Florina Diaconu (170-82) chipped in 13 points during the contest. Rapid's coach Dan Militaru allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Hungarian center Judit Kajdacsi (192-79, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and forward Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Rapid will play against Timisoara (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cluj Napoca will play against Oradea (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
