Regular Season Round 3: Wolfenbuettel - Krofdorf/Gleib. 67-63

There was a minor upset when Krofdorf/Gleib. (1-2) was defeated on the road by Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (1-2) 67-63 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But Krofdorf/Gleib. won second period 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel won last quarter 20-18. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Savannah Stedman (188-89, college: Northwestern) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Iwalani Rodrigues (175, college: Utah) helped adding 22 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel's coach Hanna Ballhaus used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American center Mara Hjelle (187-89, college: Wayne St., NE) with 22 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Jana Heinrich (188-86, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel will face Baskets Grunberg (#9) in Gruenberg in the next round.
