One of the most interesting games of the last round was a loss of Selcuk Universitesi (0-1) in Istanbul on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Besiktas (1-0) 81-67. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-67. Besiktas outrebounded Selcuk Universitesi 47-23 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Besiktas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee) fired 23 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Bradley Buckman (203-84, college: Texas) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Besiktas' coach Ahmet Kandemir used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) produced 18 points and 6 assists and forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) added 22 points respectively for lost side. Besiktas is looking forward to face Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round. Selcuk Universitesi will play at home against Aliaga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
