Regular Season Round 5: Ludwigsburg - NY Phantoms 79-77

There was a minor upset when higher ranked New Yorker Phantoms (3-2) were edged on the road by ninth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (3-2) 79-77 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But New Yorker Phantoms won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. American Keaton Grant (193-86, college: Purdue) chipped in 13 points. Four EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. American center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard James Florence (185-88, college: Mercer, agency: Pro One Sports) added 14 points respectively for the guests. EnBW Ludwigsburg moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated New Yorker Phantoms. EnBW Ludwigsburg will face Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#13) in Frankfurt in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
