Regular Season Round 8: Aalborg - Vaerlose 67-66

Aalborg's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Vaerlose (1-5) 67-66 on Thursday. Vaerlose cut a 13-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. Aalborg dominated on the defensive end, holding Vaerlose to just 7 points in second quarter. American forward Joe Burton (201, college: Oregon St.) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Mads Rasmussen (195-88) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Troy Brewer (196-89, college: American) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and swingman David Knudsen (193-94) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Vaerlose. Vaerlose's coach Thomas Silfen tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Aalborg maintains ninth position with 1-5 record, which they share with defeated Vaerlose. It was Vaerlose's third loss in a row. Aalborg is looking forward to face league's leader Bakken in Aarhus in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
