Regular Season Round 5: Stevnsgade - Vaerlose 61-45

Bottom-ranked Vaerlose (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 61-45 loss to third ranked Stevnsgade (4-1) in Stevnsgade on Friday evening. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Stevnsgade's pressure prevailed and they won that period 18-7 extending their advantage to 16 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vaerlose to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Stevnsgade forced 19 Vaerlose turnovers and outrebounded them 37-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. American Devon Quattrochi produced 10 points and naturalized Saudi Arabian guard Hanna Sheikh (180-92) added 8 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Stevnsgade maintains third place with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader SISU. Vaerlose lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Stevnsgade will face Falcon (#5) on the road in the next round. Vaerlose will play against the league's leader SISU (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
