Regular Season Round 5: Craiova - Satu Mare 48-88

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Satu Mare (4-1) smashed on the road 11th ranked Craiova (1-4) 88-48 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-48. Satu Mare dominated on the defensive end, holding Craiova to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Craiova's 20. Satu Mare forced 22 Craiova turnovers and outrebounded them 48-21 including a 32-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Craiova was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Tabytha Wampler (185-90, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. The former international swingman Andreea Orosz (183-86) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Satu Mare players scored in double figures. Forward Andreea Olteanu (177-97) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Irina Bors (178-88) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Satu Mare moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Craiova lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Satu Mare will face Alexandria (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Craiova will play against Galati (#9) and hope to win that game.
