Regular Season Round 6: Gotha - Goettingen 72-71

There was a change at the ProA leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader BG Goettingen (5-1). They were edged by twelfth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (3-3) 72-71 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BG Goettingen. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But BG Goettingen won second period 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jan Lipke (193-83, agency: Court Side) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach Chris Ensminger used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Marco Grimaldi (188-83) with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Jermaine Mallett (190-88, college: Missouri St., agency: Interperformances) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oettinger Rockets Gotha have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with NBC and Giessen 46ers. BG Goettingen at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Heidelberg who have the same record. BG Goettingen will play next round against Bayer Giants trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Crailsheim Merlins on the road.
