Regular Season Round 3: BC Kyiv - Cherkasy 72-63

The most surprising game was a loss of Cherkasy (1-1) on the court of BC Kyiv on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by BC Kyiv 72-63. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. It was a great shooting night for BC Kyiv especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when BC Kyiv made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 4 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). International forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) helped adding 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four BC Kyiv players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Jason Washburn (208-90, college: Utah) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Kyiv are looking forward to face BC Odesa (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cherkasy will play against SC Kryvbas (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
