Regular Season Round 5: Chemnitz - Marburg 83-78

Very expected game when 10th ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (1-4) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (4-1) 83-78 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Pharmaserv Marburg won fourth quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ChemCats Chemnitz made 20-of-20 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. BC Pharmaserv Marburg was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Candace Williams (184-88, college: New Hampshire) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Amanda Davidson (170-83, college: Indianapolis) chipped in 13 points and 10 assists. Five ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Forward Kellindra Zackery (182-88, college: Newman) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Emiko Smith (165-91, college: Denver) scored 12 points and 4 assists. ChemCats Chemnitz moved-up to second place, which they share with Wasserburg and Halle. Loser BC Pharmaserv Marburg dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. ChemCats Chemnitz will face Herner TC (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against Oberhausen and hope to win that game.
