Regular Season Round 4: Mersin - Ceyhan Bld 82-70

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Ceyhan Bld (2-2) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Mersin (2-2) 82-70 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-70. Mersin outrebounded Ceyhan Bld 39-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Mersin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Ceyhan Bld's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American-FYR Macedonian forward Ashley Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Matee Ajavon (170-86, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Chilean center Ziomara Morrison (193-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American D'Andra Moss (178-88, college: VCU, agency: Regeneracom Sports) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mersin moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Ceyhan Bld. Mersin will face Orduspor (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ceyhan Bld will play against Antakya (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
