Regular Season Round 7: Goettingen - Bayer Giants 92-69

Second ranked BG Goettingen blasted bottom-ranked Bayer Giants (0-7) in Goettingen 92-69 on Friday evening. Bayer Giants is still unable to win any game. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when BG Goettingen's pressure prevailed and they won that period 30-12 extending their advantage to 23 points. BG Goettingen outrebounded Bayer Giants 44-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Jermaine Mallett (190-88, college: Missouri St., agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import guard Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: W.Virginia) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five BG Goettingen players scored in double figures. BG Goettingen's coach Johannes Roijakkers felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Ben Spoeler (206-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Tony Watson II (188-90, college: Buffalo, agency: SDJ Sports) scored 21 points. BG Goettingen (6-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Chemnitz. Newly promoted Bayer Giants still closes the standings with seven games lost. BG Goettingen will meet ETB Wohnbau (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bayer Giants will play against Cuxhaven BasCats (#12) and hope to get finally their first victory.
