No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (5-2) defeated at home 10th ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (3-4) 83-67 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 51-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Stevie Johnson (198-78, college: Iowa St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Naturalized American forward Jonathan Moore (203-82, college: N.C.Central) helped adding 15 points and 15 rebounds. At the losing side guard Jan Lipke (193-83, agency: Court Side) responded with 17 points and American swingman Travis Warech (190-91, college: Ithaca) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Oettinger Rockets Gotha dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with ETB Wohnbau and NBC. Crailsheim Merlins will meet BG Karlsruhe (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against Kirchheim Knights (#3) and hope to secure a win.
