Regular Season Round 5: Istanbul B.B. - Istanbul DSI 84-63

Bottom-ranked Istanbul DSI (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 84-63 loss to fourth ranked Istanbul B.B. (4-1) in Istanbul on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul B.B.. Istanbul DSI managed to win third quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Istanbul DSI 43-24 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) responded with 18 points and 5 assists and center Dogan Deniz Yigit (197-89) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Istanbul B.B.. They moved-up to third place. Istanbul DSI lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Istanbul B.B. will meet Akhisar Bld (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Istanbul DSI's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Darussafaka.
