Regular Season Round 6: Marburg - Oberhausen 68-50

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (2-4) defeated at home higher ranked Oberhausen (2-4) 68-50. It looked good early as Oberhausen took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Pharmaserv Marburg took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 18 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oberhausen to just 7 points in fourth quarter. BC Pharmaserv Marburg forced 24 Oberhausen turnovers. The former international Margret Skuballa (186-87) notched 16 points to lead the effort and the former international Natalie Gohrke (180-83) supported her with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five BC Pharmaserv Marburg players scored in double figures. Even 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by the former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) did not help to save the game for Oberhausen. Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (168-86, college: S.Carolina) added 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Pharmaserv Marburg moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Oberhausen. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's next round opponent will be Don Bosco Bamberg (#7) on the road.
