Regular Season Round 6: Halle - Bamberg 68-70

Important game to mention about took place in Halle. Ninth ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (2-4) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-best SV Halle Lions (4-2) 70-68 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But SV Halle Lions won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American point guard Taleya Mayberry (167-91, college: Tulsa) who led her team to a victory with 21 points. The other American import center Brett Benzio (190-90, college: Tulane) contributed with 8 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Don Bosco Bamberg's coach Steffen Dauer allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international power forward Katharina Fikiel (194-87) replied with 24 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American center Ebony Ellis (189-88, college: N.Illinois) added 8 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for SV Halle Lions. Don Bosco Bamberg moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. SV Halle Lions at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Chemnitz. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#10) at home in the next round. SV Halle Lions will play against Eisvogel Freiburg (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
