Regular Season Round 8: Chemnitz - Magdeburg 85-78

Date: November 3, 2013
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (7-4) beat at home 13th ranked Magdeburg (2-9) 85-78 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Magdeburg won fourth quarter 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 made 32-of-40 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Magdeburg only scored fifteen points from the stripe. The winners were led by American guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree) who scored that evening 29 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) supported him with 9 points and 13 rebounds. Four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. Even 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by naturalized American forward Jeramie Woods (195-91) did not help to save the game for Magdeburg. American center Edward Seward (206-78, college: Norfolk St.) added 9 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Magdeburg's coach Dimitris Polychroniadis tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Magdeburg lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Cuxhaven and Karlsruhe. BV Chemnitz 99 will meet at home Kirchheim Knights (#4) in the next round. Magdeburg will play against Cuxhaven BasCats (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
