Regular Season Round 4: Galatasaray - Tofas 87-80

Date: November 3, 2013
Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Galatasaray and 6th ranked Tofas had identical 2-1 record. This time Galatasaray used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Bursa 87-80 on Sunday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-20. But Tofas won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Galatasaray won last quarter 23-18. Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) fired 22 points for the winners. American swingman Jamont Gordon (193-87, college: Mississippi St.) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. International swingman Serhat Cetin (197-86) produced 19 points and Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tofas' coach Ahmet Caki rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion (3-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Tofas dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Selcuk Univ. and Anadolu Efes. Galatasaray will meet Turk Telekom (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tofas will play against the league's second-placed Fenerbahce Ulker and hope to secure a win.
