Bayer Giants' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after ten consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Cuxhaven BasCats (2-9) 85-73. Cuxhaven BasCats were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 53-40 second half run of Bayer Giants. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Cuxhaven BasCats were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tony Watson II (188-90, college: Buffalo, agency: SDJ Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds, 14 assists and 4 steals and forward Ben Spoeler (206-88) who added 18 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. American Marques Oliver (201-91, college: Delaware St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import point guard Jay-R Strowbridge (183-88, college: Oregon, agency: IBS) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Newly promoted Bayer Giants maintains sixteenth position with 1-10 record. It was Cuxhaven BasCats' fifth loss in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Magdeburg and Karlsruhe. Bayer Giants will play against league's second-placed Science City Jena at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cuxhaven BasCats will play against Magdeburg (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
