Regular Season Round 4: DniproAzot - Khimik 53-64

Date: November 3, 2013
Bottom-ranked DniproAzot (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 64-53 loss to fourth ranked Khimik (3-1) in Dniprodzerzhynsk. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. DniproAzot was better in second period 13-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-84) who helped to win the game recording 14 points. Latvian Rolands Freimanis (206-88) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Khimik's coach Karlis Muiznieks used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Andrei Korochkin (193-82) replied with 12 points and American Amadi McKenzie (201-86, college: Tenn Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for DniproAzot. Khimik moved-up to second place, which they share with SC Kryvbas. DniproAzot at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Khimik will play against Halychyna (#6) in Lviv in the next round. DniproAzot will have a break next round.
