Regular Season Round 5: Tarsus Bld - Konak 64-69

Everything could happen in Mersin at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Konak and 12th ranked Tarsus Bld had identical 1-3 record. But Tarsus Bld was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Izmir 69-64 on Sunday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tarsus Bld won fourth quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Konak forced 19 Tarsus Bld turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward LaToya Thomas (188-81, college: Mississippi St.) who scored 26 points. Her fellow American import forward Christi Thomas (191-82, college: Georgia) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American Delisha Milton-Jones (186-74, college: Florida, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) added 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Konak (2-3) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Besiktas and Botas. Loser Tarsus Bld dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Konak will face league's second-placed Kayseri at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tarsus Bld's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Mersin to the arena Mersin.
