Regular Season Round 4: Trabzonspor - Anadolu Efes 63-83

Bottom-ranked Trabzonspor (0-4) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to ninth ranked Anadolu Efes (2-2) 83-63. The game without a history. Anadolu Efes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Trabzonspor's 34. Anadolu Efes forced 19 Trabzonspor turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Trabzonspor was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American guard Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) who scored that evening 19 points and 7 rebounds and Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM) supported him with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 17 points and 4 assists by New Zealand guard Kirk Penney (196-80, college: Wisconsin, agency: Duran International) did not help to save the game for Trabzonspor. The former international power forward Kaya Peker (207-80, agency: Court Side) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anadolu Efes moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Selcuk Univ. and Tofas. Newly promoted Trabzonspor still closes the standings with four games lost. Anadolu Efes will play against higher ranked Usak (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Trabzonspor will play against Besiktas (#12) in Istanbul and hopes to get finally their first victory.
