Regular Season Round 6: Istanbul DSI - Darussafaka 74-68

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Darussafaka (5-1) on the court of eighteenth ranked Istanbul DSI on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Istanbul DSI 74-68. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Darussafaka. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Darussafaka won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Istanbul DSI won last quarter 21-16. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Darussafaka's 30. It was a good game for American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 5 assists. Center Dogan Deniz Yigit (197-89) contributed with 9 points and 5 assists for the winners. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Lawrence Roberts (206-82, college: Mississippi St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for Darussafaka. Darussafaka's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Istanbul DSI (1-5) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Maliye Milli. Darussafaka at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Yesilgiresun. Istanbul DSI is looking forward to face higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (#12) in Balikesir in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Darussafaka's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul B.B..
