There was a minor upset in Sakiai where 9th ranked Zalgiris II (3-5) was defeated by eleventh ranked Zanavykas (4-5) 102-96 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 61-53 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zalgiris II was plagued by 38 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Paulius Beliavicius (194-88) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Paulius Kleiza (194-88) chipped in 14 points. The best for the losing side was Justas Tamulis (194-94, agency: Beo Basket) with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Lukas Lekavicius (176-94) scored 23 points and 7 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zanavykas moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Vilnius-MRU and Suduva-Mantinga. Loser Zalgiris II dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Zanavykas will face higher ranked Triobet (#6) in Jonava in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zalgiris II will play at home against Olimpas (#14) and hope to win that game.
