Regular Season Round 9: Olimpas - Palanga 96-67

Bottom-ranked Palanga (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fourteenth ranked Olimpas (2-7) 96-67 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Olimpas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Palanga's 36. Olimpas forced 21 Palanga turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was French forward Dainius Vaitelis (200-86) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Laurynas Lucinskas (201-93) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Rytis Biliartas (200-91) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Kostas Jonuska (196-92) added 18 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpas maintains fourteenth place with 2-7 record. Palanga lost their eighth game in a row. They still closes the standings with eight games lost. Olimpas will meet higher ranked Zalgiris II (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Palanga will play against Vilnius-MRU (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
